May 18th, 6pm Mendocino Hotel Garden Room
General Business & Planning Meeting

Please join us for a General Business and Planning Meeting. Please come out and help us plan for the upcoming year and for our official certification as a branch in the California Writers Club.
All of the paperwork to make the Writers of the Mendocino Coast a legitimate branch of the California Writers Club is in the hands of the state. We should be certified and official in July. Thank you to everyone who helped make that happen. This venture started with a small group of people meeting around a kitchen table more than two years ago.
That small group has kept the club alive: finding venues, holding meetings, keeping minutes, creating programs and open mics, inviting speakers, creating By-Laws, opening bank accounts, holding elections, writing Procedure & Policy documents, recruiting membership, designing posters and flyers, a website and a logo, setting up mailing lists, sending out newsletters, taking photographs and documenting our history—and now, finally, getting together the paperwork to apply for branch status with the California Writers Club, which as you all know, was started by Jack London over a 100 years ago.

Update on our Plans to Become
An Official Branch of the California Writers Club

On March 16, 2011 the Writers of the Mendocino Coast were invited to submit a Letter of Intent to the Central Board of the California Writers Club. The process is now in motion. There is paperwork to turn in and deadlines to meet, but if all goes according to plan, (and there’s no reason to believe that it won’t), we will be certified this coming July as an official branch of the California Writers Club with all the benefits and privileges thereof—including standing as a not-for-profit organization.
This is definitely something to celebrate. Many of us have worked toward this for almost two years. Mark the date, Wednesday July 20th, we’ll be celebrating the good news at our monthly meeting at the Mendocino Hotel with a “Founders Members Reading & Real Time Literary Magazine.”  By the way, according to an item posted on the Bay Citizen, literary events are all the fashion now and the Bay Area (all the way to Mendocino) is in the middle of a literary renaissance.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make this happen!!
